Brit Bildøen with freshly translated novel in Chennai, India

January 15, 2017

Bildøen’s latest novel, Seven Days in August, was voted Best Norwegian Novel of 2014 by listeners at Norwegian Broadcasting. It’s now published in English by Naveen Kishore at Seagull Books, Calcutta. As part of Seagull’s launch Bildøen was invited to Chennai, to the Hindi Lit for Life-Festival. The title of Bildøen’s presentation was Norwegian Mood - where she discussed the long term effects of the Utøya terror, and the dialectics of individual versus public grief. Indian writer and publisher Kannan Sundaram on his side talked about Norway as a Utopia for writers, publishers and book people in general.“Monday we move on to Kolkata. It’s really exciting to be here,” says Bildøen.
